Elder Bill Liversidge is preaching

 

We welcome you to The Place this coming Sabbath.  This week Elder Bill Liversidge will be preaching at The Place with a sermon titled “Unclean, Unclean” over the story of the leper in Mark 1.  Randall Goulard will lead us in  praise and worship and there will be special music by Alyssa Rossi, Bradon Schwarz, and Kiira DeVries.  Brent and Simone Buttler will be dedicating their baby girl, Rebecca Buttler. 

 

 
Bowling Social/Farewell to Geigles This Sat Nite
Join us this Saturday night, July 7th, starting at  8:00 p.m. at Harley’s bowl in Simi Valley.  The cost is $7 per person and it includes shoes. Please sign up this Sabbath and come wearing your hawaiian shirts and dresses as we say farewell to Andrew and Natasha Geigle who are moving to Honolulu.
 
Beach Vespers Next Friday
All are invited to our next beach vespers on Friday night, July 13th at 6:00 p.m. at Sycamore Cove.  We will have a hot dog dinner and worship.  Come and enjoy and please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert. 

 

YESS Summer Session

YESS summer session is in full swing on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.  There are 8 weeks and a lot of fun left!!  The cost is $20 to pre-register and if you already have a jersey, and an additional $10 if you do not have a jersey.  You can sign up online at http://www.theplacechurch.com/ or at church or contact Jason Mosley at 310-824-3816.

 

 

 

 

Grace Club This Sabbath

 

 

All kids ages 3-9 are invited to attend “Grace Club” this coming Sabbath after church services. Liam Liversidge will lead out a short Bible study on “Borrowing” and then conclude with snacks and play time.  If you would like to help out, please let Liam know.  All kids can meet on the side of the sanctuary where the library is once church is over.

 

Santa Cruz Island

 

On August 4 and 5, several of us are heading out to Santa Cruz Island for some outdoor fun. Most folks will be exploring the kelp forests and sea caves by kayak, but there is also plenty of good hiking and snorkeling available. You can join us for Saturday, Sunday, or stay for both days and camp overnight. Space is limited. Is life overwhelming and out of control right now? Join us at Sabbath School to find a way to get some peace in the midst of craziness.

Get out and get movin!

We invite you to get ready for our 2nd annual movin’ day 5K tail run/walk on Sunday, September 23rd at NPAA field to raise awareness of healthy lifestyle, childhood obesity, and the growth and rise of autism.  Proceeds will go to Hacienda Oaks Estates, a local charity benefitting the developmentally disabled. Cost is $25 thru Aug 23rd, $35 after for the 5k. Family fun run is $10 per person.  Contact Leila atleilasilva@aol.com for more information.

 

 

Guys Group: Thursdays

Please join a new guys group that has been meeting Thursday nights at Starbucks beginning at 6:30 p.m.  For the next five weeks the guys wil be exploring “what it means to be a man of the covenant”.  Contact Pastor Simon is you are interested.  All guys are welcome.

Parenting Class-LAST Meeting this week
The parenting class will conclude this coming Sabbath morning.  This week we will end with a session titled “Methods for goals & objectives for the teenage years. 
 
 

 

 

 

Mission Trips This Year

This year our overseas mission trip will be to Southern India…from September 4-19. The total cost will be just under $2,000 p.p. Airfare is about $1500. We are about to book tickets…so if you are interested, PLEASE let Pastor Simon know ASAP!!
This year our missionaries will be building classrooms in a school.
 
LOCAL MISSION TRIP IN JULY!!
Save the date(s) for the last week in July (July 29-Aug. 4) for a local mission trip. In addition to The Place’s annual overseas mission trip we are planning one in our own backyard. The week will consist of various service/ministry/outreach projects in and around the Conejo Valley and Los Angeles. More specific plans coming next week but please consider joining us for all, a few, or even one of the days that week. There will be something for everyone! Prayer Ministry -
Do you want to pray or be prayed for? 
Our prayer ministry would like to pray for you! Do you have a request or praise you would like to share? If so, there are TWO opportunities each Sabbath. We invite you to come at 10:00 a.m. in the mom’s room and be prayed over by our PRAYER TEAM. If you would like to be prayed over…please call Pastor Simon or Suzanne Aikin and let them know. Alternatively, we invite you to stay after church in the right rear corner of the sanctuary and be prayed over or pray for someone else. 

 

 

Heart For The House
We invite you to bless our church in our ministry to our community and our own people! VBS has been such a joy…our youth soccer continues to draw new families…and we are getting closer to getting our OWN CHURCH BUILDING! We appreciate your support for these ministries and much MORE! Women’s Retreat-Deposits Due This Sabbath

Cecilia Liversidge is in the beginning stages of planning a women’s retreat for the fall of this year. This year the Hume Lake Fall Women’s Retreat is scheduled for the weekend of October 5-7th. The cost is $300 per person and includes all meals from Friday evening through Sunday lunch as well as the speaker and worship time. This year’s speaker is Debbie Alsdorf and the worship leader is Deanna Ramsay along with her band. If we decide to go here as a group, you will need to submit your $50 deposit will be due by THIS Sabbath, July 7th.

 
 
Beth Moore:
Some of you ladies may also like to see Beth Moore at her “Living Proof Live” conference held at the Long Beach Convention Center October 12-13. The cost is $60 per person plus cost of hotel if you should decide to stay Friday night (which is highly advisable). Skate Ministry - High School Students getting together for prayer and skate boarding. Alternate Friday Mornings. Next meet will be at the Borchard Skate Park in Newbury Park, at 10 am on Friday, July 6th. Contact Pastor John about details! If we have more interest, we can go more often!
 
Thrive Campout - Lake Piru! That’s right, the youth and collegiate camp out has been scheduled! July 26th – July 29th at Lake Piru. Contact Pastor John about attending – We are looking for about 10 Sponsors, and we have slots for about 30 kids. Get signed up! (Cost TBD)

Sabbath Morning Bible Study

Anyone ages 18-25ish is invited to join Collegiate Bible Study at 10:30 am at The Place as we are explore and discuss the several remaining genres of Scripture, Prophets and Revelation, in our journey through How To Read The Bible For All Its Worth. YOUNG ADULT TOWNHALL AFTER CHURCH ON SABBATH JULY 14

If you’re a part of our young adult group or would like to be please join us after church on July 14 for an important get-together. This will be an opportunity to share ideas for our young adult ministry and what it could look like. Looking at ways to have more people involved in the life of our young adult community at The Place. Please don’t miss out on sharing your input!!

 

NEW YOUNG ADULT MEN’S GROUP??

Would you be interested in a young adult men’s small group?There are a lot of us and would like to be able to minister to each other and study together. If you are interested in being a part of a small group designed particularly for single young adult guys to hang out please let Randall know.

 

FLAG FOOTBALL EVERY SUNDAY (NEW TIME…11:00 AM)
We’re playing flag football this Sunday and every Sunday at 11:00 am and invite you to come out and join us at the NPAA field (180 Academy Dr. Newbury Park). Guys and gals welcome, come out, get some exercise and have some fun. If you’d like to be on our list to be notified each week please let Jason Mosley know (310) 824-3816.

MORE PRAYER REQUESTS

Please keep our young adults always in prayer. There are so many exciting things happening in each other’s lives, people moving, getting married, job needs, finances, new babies.Please let Randall know if you are available to be specifically praying for some of the needs in our YA community. Also be praying for our young adults in general, we have a large group now and it is our belief that God wants to continue to grow us, bless us and move us deeper into relationship with Him and each other.

 

SABBATH SCHOOL
It’s worth waking up a bit earlier to come and study God’s word. 10:30 am in the bookstore in the back of the church lobby. This week Randall will continue our study in Luke ch. 23. As we wrap up the book of Luke we’re looking at new study curriculum and format. If you have ideas for new Bible studies or are interested in leading out please let Randall know.

 

NEW YA SMALL GROUP MEETS THIS TUESDAY!
We’ve started our small group again and would love to have you join us if you are looking for a place to engage with other young adults in the same place in life. We are meeting every TUESDAY at 7 PM at PANERA BREAD in the JANSS MARKETPLACE on Moorpark Rd. in Thousand Oaks. If you want to be plugged in to this please let Randall know. (707) 227-9845. Right now we are learning how to discern the voice of God in our lives. The group is growing and we’ve been having some amazing discussions and time sharing our requests and praises with each other.

 

FACEBOOK ADMINISTRATOR NEEDED

If you are on Facebook a lot and would like to serve the church and our young adult community then we could use YOU! We are in need of someone to keep our Facebook page updated with news, info and pictures. This would be a VERY SMALL time commitment, literally a couple hours a month!Please let Randall know if this is something you would be interested in helping with.

 

BAPTISMAL and/or BIBLE STUDIES or PRAYER REQUESTS

If you have never been baptized and are interested in learning how you can express your commitment to Jesus through baptism please let me (Randall) know, I’d love to study with you for this. Or maybe you would just like to study the Bible together to learn more, engage your burning questions, and grow your faith.
