This Sabbath @ The Place- Spiritual Support: Seminar @ The Place with Dr. Bryan Cafferky- THIS weekend of April 29 & 30
Dr. Bryan Cafferky will present a FREE SEMINAR at The Place on untangling family dynamics and changing your family tree. He will share practical tools to help you navigate tricky family dynamics and avoid common relational pitfalls. Recognize how relational triangles and emotional cutoffs are common ways that families use to avoid facing hard truths— with destructive consequences rippling down to the next generations. Dissect the troublesome relational dynamics that hurt Abraham’s family. Identifying these “old” family patterns helps unlock refreshing possibilities for our current relationships. Learn how shifting your mindset and behaviors can free family members from the baggage of generational millstones. It only takes one person to change a pattern. You can transform the present and future fabric of your family tree.

Dr. Bryan Cafferky has a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy and an MDiv with emphasis in Family Ministry). He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Certified Family Life Educator. Dr. Cafferky has over 10 years performing/teaching Improvisational Theater.

The seminar will meet on Friday night, April 29 at 7 p.m. at The Place. And continue Sabbath morning at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Cafferky will preach during our worship service. We will have a fellowship lunch and then the seminar will conclude Sabbath afternoon at 2 p.m.

As part of our special series, we will have a FELLOWSHIP LUNCH next Sabbath after church (and before the 2 p.m. meeting). The theme is ITALIAN. Please bring a dish to share if at all possible and plan to stay and share that time together.

~"Monumental" VBS coming June 27-July 1st
This year kids can off-road for a "Monumental" adventure through the colorful canyons and sunbaked trails of the southwest. By exploring God’s awesomeness, kids form a rock-solid faith for the road ahead.

All kids PreK-5th are invited to attend VBS the week of June 27th-July 1st at Conejo Adventist Elementary School from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $25 for the first child and $10 for each additional child.

Volunteers are needed! Please contact Cecilia if you or your high school aged child is interested in helping out during the week.

~Depression & Anxiety Recovery group-continues this Monday, May 2nd
|
Anyone struggling with depression or with family/friends who do so is welcome to join group. It uses Dr. Nedley's 8-week Recovery Program, led by our Associate Director Sam Gomez. The group started

Meeting every Monday from 7pm-9pm for 8 weeks at THE PLACE CHURCH.

~Come out to play YESS Soccer this Sunday, May 1st
|
All young people are invited to join YESS soccer on Sunday mornings. It continues this Sunday from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the CAES field in Newbury Park. We have 3 age groups: 3–5-year-old; 6 - 9-year-old; and 10–13-year-old. Older young people are invited to volunteer to help. Cost is $20 per child ($15 for each additional child in a family).

~Music for Ukraine: A Benefit Concert Series for Humanitarian Aid
An offering of compassion through classical music by our community's premier musicians. Concerts will be held at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church (Saturday, May 7th @ 2pm; & May 15th @ 6 pm); Deane Chapel @ Westmont College (May 21 @ 3pm); & Hillcrest Center for the Performing Arts (May 29 @ 3 pm). ~Participate in our Maranatha Mission Trip August 2022-we have 3 spots left
|
The Place will be going on a Maranatha Mission Project early August 2022 to Ica, Peru. We will be finishing the construction of an Evangelism/Health Education Center, sharing a VBS with the kids and having a medical/dental outreach to the community. Cost is TBD as of now but will be only $150 for the project fee and actual cost of travel. PLEASE RSVP to Pastor Simon ASAP if you would like to go, there are 3 spots left.
