~Welcome our new Youth & Young Adult Pastor Urijah Saenz
|
This Sabbath we will introduce our new youth and young adult pastor, Urijah Saenz. He is not starting officially until the end of June but there is so much going on at the end of the school year we wanted you to meet him now. We are excited for him to be part of The Place leadership team!

For those of you wondering...Pastor Cameron is stepping down from paid ministry to focus on a new business venture - that he will share with us also this Sabbath. He and Alexa are staying in this area and Cameron will continue to be part of our leadership team as a volunteer and to lead out in youth ministry and as a leader and part of our worship team.
|
We are very blessed to have these two godly young men in leadership!

~Go Ice Skating this Saturday night May 7th @ 7:45pm
Everyone is invited to come and have fun ICE SKATING this Saturday night, May 7th from 7:45 - 9:15 p.m. at the Iceoplex in Simi Valley - 131 W. Easy St., S.V. Cost is GROUP RATE - only $10 per person - including rentals! But please RSVP with Pastor Cameron (509-200-5230) or to Pastor Simon. Bring a friend.

~Attend the Memorial Service for Lupe Mora on May 21st
|
Everyone is invited to come and celebrate the life of Lupe Mora on Sabbath afternoon, May 21st at 2 p.m. at The Place church. After the worship service we will have a FELLOWSHIP LUNCH. All are invited to come and to bring a dish to share then the Memorial will follow.

Thanks so much for all your prayers and love for Lupe. We pray that we can continue to love on Manuel and Gracie. Please continue to pray for them and reach out and love on them. If you would like to bring a meal or gift card for the family, please reach out to Manuel or let Pastor Simon know.

~Join us for our next Beach Vespers on May 27th
All are invited to attend our next Beach Vespers happening on Friday evening, May 27th @ Sycamore Cove beginning at a 6 p.m . We will have praise and worship and enjoy a hot dog dinner together, please bring a side, salad, or dessert to share.

~Consider volunteering for "Monumental" VBS coming June 27-July 1st
This year kids can off-road for a "Monumental" adventure through the colorful canyons and sunbaked trails of the southwest. By exploring God’s awesomeness, kids form a rock-solid faith for the road ahead.
|
All kids PreK-5th are invited to attend VBS the week of June 27th-July 1st at Conejo Adventist Elementary School from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $25 for the first child and $10 for each additional child.

Volunteers are needed! Please contact Cecilia if you or your high school aged child is interested in helping out during the week.

~Depression & Anxiety Recovery group-continues this Monday, May 2nd
|
Anyone struggling with depression or with family/friends who do so is welcome to join group. It uses Dr. Nedley's 8-week Recovery Program, led by our Associate Director Sam Gomez. The group started

Meeting every Monday from 7pm-9pm for 8 weeks at THE PLACE CHURCH.

~Come out to play YESS Soccer this Sunday, May 8th
All young people are invited to join YESS soccer for the last time this coming Sunday morning. It will conclude this Sunday from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the CAES field in Newbury Park. We have 3 age groups: 3–5-year-old; 6 - 9-year-old; and 10–13-year-old. Older young people are invited to volunteer to help. Cost is $20 per child ($15 for each additional child in a family).

~Music for Ukraine: A Benefit Concert Series for Humanitarian Aid
An offering of compassion through classical music by our community's premier musicians. Concerts will be held at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church (Saturday, May 7th @ 2pm; & May 15th @ 6 pm); Deane Chapel @ Westmont College (May 21 @ 3pm); & Hillcrest Center for the Performing Arts (May 29 @ 3 pm). ~Participate in our Maranatha Mission Trip August 2022
|
The Place will be going on a Maranatha Mission Project early August 2022 to Ica, Peru. We will be finishing the construction of an Evangelism/Health Education Center, sharing a VBS with the kids and having a medical/dental outreach to the community. Cost is TBD as of now but will be only $150 for the project fee and actual cost of travel.
